Four sectors. One standard of work.
Whether we’re building, strengthening, refurbishing or working around an operating organisation, the approach is the same: plan carefully, communicate clearly and take responsibility for the result.
Fit-outs, refurbishments and new builds for owners and property managers. We plan the work around your building and your business, staging projects where needed so tenants can keep trading and disruption is kept under control.

Classrooms, halls and school buildings, delivered around an operating school. We plan the work around term dates, school activities and the day-to-day needs of staff and students.

Damaged and existing buildings where the construction needs to be carefully planned around the structure, the occupants and the ongoing use of the building. If you’re dealing with an earthquake strengthening project, we can talk through what needs to happen and how the work can be managed.

Churches, clubs, community facilities and heritage buildings. We work with committees to keep projects practical, well managed and considerate of the people who use the building.

Selected projects across Canterbury

A high-end office fit-out delivered on time and on budget, won on competitive tender for a long-standing client. A structure built inside the existing structure, with the concrete floors levelled to take it.

Won on pricing and staging methodology. Earthquake repairs and redevelopment across 3,380 square metres, staged in two so the business never stopped trading.

Heritage church works in Avonside.

The auditorium was extensively damaged in the earthquakes. Remedial ground works, then strengthening to 100% of the New Building Code.

Classroom works delivered around an operating school.

A multi-storey building extensively damaged in the February 2011 earthquake. Structural strengthening works to the New Building Code.
Four of the seven projects on this page involved earthquake repair or structural strengthening. RPC is chosen for this type of work because of its recognised industry expertise.
The 2024 amendment to the Building Act extended remediation deadlines by four years, with provision for a further extension to 2028, so timing is no longer the pressing question — what matters now is who does the work and whether your building can stay open while they do it.

“We approached Stefan at RPC to price an EQ Strengthening job on a building we were considering purchasing. Not having a long timeframe to confirm the purchase, speed and efficiency was key. The team worked closely with our engineer to plan the work required and accurately cost the job giving us the confidence to make the purchase. Once the purchase was confirmed RPC was quick to get underway ordering steel and arranging contractors and subcontractors etc. The day the property settled and we took ownership was the day RPC commenced work. The whole job took under a week and came in on budget, we couldn't be happier with the result !!”
“This was the second job we engaged Stefan and the team at RPC. This one was somewhat more complicated that the last however RPC was more than up for the challenge. The job involved a full 400sqm office fit out as well as some EQ strengthening work. The hard thing about this job was all 3 tenancies that required work done were occupied meaning the team would need to work around our tenants to minimise disruption of their businesses. Stefan priced the job prior and allowed some weekend (including Sunday) work to minimise the impact on tenants. The team at RPC worked closely with all our tenants building relationships with them which allowed both tenant and contractor to work together in harmony. Our tenants speak very highly of the RPC team and so do we with another project delivered on time and on budget. 10/10 !”
“We commissioned RPC Construction to build a new 1100 sqm three level office building at 6 Acton St in 2023. The site was complicated by being small, 100% building coverage, brownfields with geotechnical challenges, and impinging on our existing office activities at 4 Acton where over 100 staff worked. Wearing my tenant hat, I found them to be considerate of our staff and our operational needs throughout the project. There were several occasions where they proactively identified work that might cause disruption to our existing office activities and worked with us to agree practical workarounds that were often of a greater inconvenience to them than to us.”
“We have worked with Stefan and RPC across everything from small residential alterations to multi-storey commercial buildings. Stefan is straightforward to communicate with and brings deep Christchurch rebuild experience, which makes him genuinely useful in the room during early design when we are testing options and costs with the client. Every job gets the same attention, whatever its size. Our clients consistently tell us the same thing.”
“Grace Presbyterian Church Christchurch have recently completed a comprehensive renovation of our church facility led by RPC Construction. The RPC team were friendly and trustworthy to deal with and were accommodating to our needs. Our church had limited previous experience in building projects and the RPC team did a great job guiding us through the building process in a transparent way. The construction was completed to an excellent level of quality and the church is very pleased with the result.”
“RSA Rangiora chose RPC after careful consideration and as they were highly recommended to us. Our project presented a number of unexpected problems that should have had a major impact on our operational ability and timeline, however with the professionalism of RPC, we enjoyed continued operation of our club and also completion on time. I can thoroughly recommend this company for its professional approach and high level of quality workmanship.”
“We would like to commend Grant and his team at RPC Construction for their excellent work, not only for the construction project, but also for the efforts to work closely with the school to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum. ‘Thank you’”
“RPC met our tight tender deadline, they also presented us with the most comprehensive tender document along with the most competitive price, one that was within our very tight budget. I am pleased to say that RPC Construction has been one of the best firms that I have had the pleasure of dealing with and I have no hesitation in giving them one of the highest rating that I have given in any previous reference.”
“I have always found RPC Construction to have very experienced key staff in all areas of their operation, and their contracts are always very well run. They have good rapport with their subcontractors and suppliers, and their record keeping and documentation has been exemplary. I have found RPC Construction excellent to deal with and I look forward to any opportunity to work with them again in the future.”
“We at St Albans Baptist Church have used RPC Construction twice in the last 10 years, firstly on a very large new build addition to our church facility and then 3 years later on a complete reconstruction of our 500 seat auditorium following earthquakes, and I cannot recommend them highly enough. We did not know RPC before hand, but went on someone else's recommendation and we are 100% glad that we did so.”
On Hamptons ITM at Ferry Road, RPC won a competitive tender on pricing and on staging methodology, then split the programme in two so the business never closed its doors.
“It was imperative that the business continued to trade throughout the duration of the project.”
