The existing RSA premises had served its members loyally for many decades, but was well overdue for an upgrade and extension. The work was a complete refit, including all services, a new outdoor bar and dining area, and a significant new extension to the sports bar.
The building also required extensive strengthening to the existing structure to bring it up to the new building code. The project was broken into two stages so the RSA could keep trading in one area while the construction team worked in the other. That worked extremely well for the club, which was able to keep its income stream alive.
A strong collaborative relationship between the client, the consultants and the building team carried the job through the many challenges uncovered during it. Fortnightly site meetings involving all main parties were key to that, and highly effective.
