Holy Trinity Church, Avonside
Heritage church works in Avonside.
The project replaced the existing church, which was destroyed in the Christchurch earthquakes. Features saved from the original church were restored and built into the new one, keeping a link between the old building and its replacement.
The interior is clad in Abodo Vulcan with a deep warm grain, with Trespa panels in the ceilings and external soffits. An exceptionally high quality of finish was required, and two of RPC's own team were given internal awards for workmanship on this project.
The new church stands very close to the existing cemetery, so extreme care was taken to make sure existing graves were not disturbed. That included ground-scanning technology and archaeological expertise.
